To ensure there is no loss of production an intermediate holding hopper is incorporated into the prepacking sytem.

A probe contolled 'lower/riser' conveyor ensures the hopper is fed correctly. 

Up to three tons of potatoes can be held in the hopper.  Crop sensers control the speed of the hopper belt and pneumatic crop door.

This ensures that the whole feed system does not stop if there is a hold-up with the weighing/packaging area.
